A fantastic part of Sweden

Norrköping and Linköping make up the fourth largest metropolis in Sweden. Only two hours south of Stockholm you can find many of the advantages of a big city with none of the disadvantages. With good air communication to land and sea, it is very simple to meet in this area. The excitement of the city and glorious archipelagos, mountains and deep forests, level country and lakes; in Östergötland there is something for everyone.

A city region without the crowding and the queues and just ten minutes to the countryside – could it be any better?

industrilandskapet i Norrköping

Norrköping

Norrköping, which is situated on both sides of the Motala River and Lindö canal by the innermost part of Bråviken, is an old industrial, commercial and sea port.

Today, Norrköping is Sweden’s eighth biggest city with a little over 125000 residents. Norrköping is the little big city with the big choices. There is a lot here for many and something for everyone! You will find many different kinds of hotels, restaurants, museums and shops here.

Norrköping has drawn strength from its history and leapt into the future. It is most noticeable in the unique industrial scenery around the stream in central Norrköping. The magnificent industrial buildings have been preserved and live on with new activities. The town is beautifully framed with impressive promenades and the yellow trams and the water offers an ongoing element of steady city fishing.

Linköping

The geographical area where Linköping grew up was a trading place. Due to the arrival of the cathedral and other churches, Linköping became a place for other types of meetings

There is a well preserved town centre in Linköping that has traditional buildings, many squares with pavement cafes, many small restaurants and pleasant shops. Linkoping’s cathedral is the pride of the town and one of the foremost cathedrals of the north. The cathedral itself is from the middle ages and has remained remarkably untouched throughout the centuries.

You will go back in time 100 years when you visit Gamla Linköping. You will find small shops, handicraft and cafés with old fashioned charm. In some houses you can find old homes that are untouched, as though the residents have just stepped out momentarily!
