Vadstena Cathedral and St Birgitta Abbey Museum

This unique cathedral was built on the directive of St. Birgitta and consecrated in 1430. Today it holds a collection of unique church art and it also has Birgitta’s shrine from the 1300s. Vadstena town in South East Sweden is a historic pearl and one of the county’s most well preserved middle age towns with ancestors from the 1200s. Vadstena is a town with a very pleasant and genial atmosphere!

The Abbey Museum in Vadstena is one of the country’s most remarkable buildings: royal palace, nunnery, veteran’s home, prison and mental asylum. The story of St. Birgitta is told here, Sweden’s only saint acknowledged by the Vatican and one of Europe’s patron saints since 1999.

The museum is contained within the old palace that was built in the middle of the 1200s by Birger Jarl to be a royal summer home.

This museum is built around the Vasa Ship; the world’s only surviving 17th century battleship! On the 10 of August 1628 the royal warship Vasa sank on its maiden voyage, in Stockholm harbour. The Vasa rested on the seabed for 333 years and was finally salvaged in 1961!

The museum building, the presentation of the ship and its artefacts have to be seen to be believed – unmissable!

Norrköping Visualization Center

A new Visualization Center is built here in Norrköping. The third of a kind. The other two you find in Greece and on Hawaii!

Norrköping Visualization Center owes its existence to the visualization research conducted in Norrköping and Linköping. In less than a decade a world-class visualization research programme has been established.

The visualization technology helps us to see things that would otherwise be impossible to see with the naked eye and allows us to perceive data that would otherwise be too complex. Scenarios may involve space travel, exploring the human body or diving into the deepest crevices of the world’s oceans.

The Dome Theatre will held spectacular 3D-performances in which the audience will be surrounded by both image and sound! In order to heighten the visualization experience, the visitors will use special stereo-optical glasses. Performances like "Fly me to the Moon" will be both lerning and exciting for all ages!
